Portuguese

The distribution of Portuguese within the language is unique because the distribution of Portuguese is often found in grammar, according to Dr. Bart Jacobs, in the article Reassessment of the Portuguese contribution to the Papiamentu lexicon (2013), from which the words in following table are extracted. Many scholars consider Papiamento a Spanish based language, however, Dr. Bart Jacobs’ research shows that the Portuguese influence is extensive. The research provided from which we extracted these examples consists of a table with 5 pages of examples in alphabetical order.
